There are many reason that the gasmask concept is evolving, one is the fact that as we become more sophisticated, we recognize the horror that acts of war have on the children. Haunting are the photos of the World War two era Japanese photographs which show the long rows of Japanese children donning gasmasks and preparing for the worst.
The good news is that some companies, (specifically a Japanese one not surprisingly), has taken the concept into one of fashion and artistic license. There are several others who have been willing and able to change the common design of the black, scary, gasmask. Here are three:
